Pacific Sounds Lodge is located in the community of Bamfield. There are several wasy of getting here by land, water, and air. Nanaimo is the best starting place on Vancouver Island to stage your trip to Pacific Sounds Lodge. Most major airlines have connected flights through to Nanaimo.
Our team is here to help advise you with your travel arrangements as necessary.
SELF DRIVE: Most guests arrive in Bamfield by road. We recommend that guests take the route from Port Alberni that is a paved road and takes about 1.5 hours. We do not recommend the gravel road from Lake Cowichan.
SHUTTLES AND TAXIS: There are several options available both on scheduled itineraries and charters that can be arranged from most Vancouver Island locations. Please contact us for guidance.
PARKING: We have designated guest parking in East Bamfield in the gravel lot across from the market.
The MV Frances Barkley passenger ferry operates three round trips weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The ferry is a scenic way to travel to Pacific Sounds Lodge, as it sails along the Alberni Inlet to Bamfield. This approximately four-hour voyage drops our guests off at the West Bamfield dock where our lodge team will transport them to the lodge.
We often recommend to take the ferry to the lodge and a ground shuttle on your return trip.
Chartering a seaplane to Bamfield from Vancouver is an efficient way of getting here. Please contact us for rates
